Heading out this morning with my brother and sister-in-law when we're sitting at a red light and WHAM!!!!, we get rear-ended by a huge honking Dodge RAM 3500 pickup driven by a 16 year old. The first words out of his mouth are "man, I fucked up" which I thought was a pretty good assessment of the situation.
The car is drivable and none of us were seriously injured, but we are all feeling some pretty significant neck, back and head pain. Things also got worse when I learned that the kid's insurance lapsed yesterday for non-payment, since I only have comprehensive coverage I may be paying for all repairs and doctor visits out of my own pocket.
Fortunately, an attorney who subleases and office from my firm is a personal injury lawyer, and he owes me for sending him a couple of clients, so I'll see if he'll help me out. I'm hoping that the 16 year old's parents will make this right because I really hate to sue folks....kinda strange as I'm a lawyer myself, but there it is.
Now, if anyone has any suggestions for whiplash and keeping my head from blowing off I'd love to hear them.
